Why Prevention is Crucial for Mothers and Children in Tanzania
Prevention is crucial for mothers and children because they are among the most vulnerable to the dangers of malaria. Pregnant women have weaker immunity, making it easier for malaria to cause complications such as severe anemia, miscarriage, or low-birth-weight babies. For infants and young children, their immune systems are still developing, so malaria can quickly become severe and life-threatening. Preventing malaria protects the mother’s health, supports a safe pregnancy, and ensures that babies are born healthy. It also reduces hospital visits, financial burdens on families, and long-term health problems in young children. In short, strong prevention keeps both mothers and children safe, healthy, and able to thrive.
